I saw the Reds host the Padres in August 2004, and took advantage of the fine weather by wandering around before the first pitch. The main entrance plaza behind home plate is full of trees and shrubs, making for a pleasant first impression. On the left is a Art Deco-style bas relief mural entitled "The Spirit of Baseball." There are quite a few banners and visual displays that recount the many triumphant highlights of Reds teams of yesteryear. Like Comerica Park, the lower concourse is open, so you can watch the game from almost anywhere around the stadium except behind the center field batter's eye and the right field quasi-bleachers. My seat was in the forward part of the upper deck behind the dugout on the first base side; the view was very good, especially for an $11 ticket. A few days before I was there, Adam Dunn knocked a colossal home run that bounced across the street and rolled into the river near that big red paddle wheel. It was the first time anyone had done that, apparently. Final score: Padres 7, Reds 2. Official attendance: 31,447, probably overstated by 20 percent or so.

I've been to GABP many times, and it a wonderful stadium. I'm a Cubs fan but we lived so close to Cincy that we just went there 2-3 a year to watch the lovable losers. anyway, I agree it is sometimes corny and overdone, but seeing the river is nice and the Queen City has an underrated skyline. I mean the chili resteraunt actually. The major down side here are the bums. They are not discouraged from crowding the walk in and it makes th place seem dirty. I've often said if the Cubs replace Wrigley during this new park era of the MLB, it should be nice and intimate just like this one.

This is a fantastic stadium! The feel the reds pump into this place is such an improvement over the old days at riverfront. This stadium brings all the old vibe of Crosley into a new stadium with good site lines. It would have been a good idea to not have opening day as a mid day game tho that place will get cold as hell.
