Just a few weeks after the 1998 All-Star Game, Jacqueline and I saw a Cubs-Rockies game in Coors Field. We arrived a little late, so we didn't have much time for sight-seeing. Our seats were quite close to the field between first base and the foul pole, but we were too low to see much of what was going on in the infield. We couldn't see the Rocky Mountains in the distance, either. The brick structure, steel structure, and the fountain beyond center field all add to the ambience. This was during the heat of the historic home run race between Sammy Sosa and Mark McGwire. (We had been camping for a few days and were amazed by how many home runs both men had hit in the interim.) The most dramatic moment in that game was when Sammy Sosa hit a long fly ball to center field with the bases loaded, but it was just an out. Final score, after ten innings: Rockies 11, Cubs 10.

I attended a game here in June of 1996 with my dad. The park was beautiful and we sat in center field in the "Rock Pile" section. I liked how the stadium doesn't seem too big and imposing from the outside or inside. Most new stadiums try to cram in too many luxury box levels. From the outside, the stadium blends in with the old downtown area of Denver. I can't remember the visiting team or who won but it was a great experience. The park was very easy to get too and thank god wasn't over the top in trying to manufacture false quirkyness. Other than having the thin air for the ball to travel better in, it's a great, fair ballfield for either team.

Now, this is how the New Comiskey Park should have been designed! All they would have to do is to extend decks two and three over to the center field bleachers around left and left center! Also, this is the third big league park that has two decks of bleachers in center field! The other two: my favorite Tiger Stadium, and Wrigley Field in Chicago! Oh, and I haven't been here yet, but was really impressed by this park on TV but at this altitude, the field needs to be 50 to 100 feet deeper all around, even as big as it is now, it is nothing but frustration for opposition pitching! Just ask Alan Trammell, back when he managed the Tigers and they had to play the Rockies here!

I went to Giants @ Rockies on 5/28/16. We sat in the upper deck, first base side. It's a nice stadium, and I enjoyed seeing 15 runs but was hoping for more of course. The rock pile is an interesting feature, it seemed like the people out there were probably roasting in the sun for most of the game on this particular day. The row of purple seats is neat too. After the final out a young boy near us said "I still like the Colorado Rockies even though they lose sometimes", and like, yeah dude. Rock on
